****Game/Contest--Read Below****It's the lantern festival in China. This marks the end of the 15-day(?) long
Spring Festival celebration. It's usually celebrated by...you guessed it..lanterns, dumplings and scores of fireworks.
The Spring Festival is basically the Chinese New Year celebration and is similar to Western
Christmas/4th of July combined. On Spring Festival Eve and the Lantern Festival fireworks are shot in the air for hours at a time nearly everywhere in any given city. It's beautiful.
My camera's out of battery so I can't take pictures of the fireworks. How sad.

GAME/CONTESTWe all have different mediums. Some of us draw, paint, crochet, etc., but it's rare to see unity within the chaos of different trades. However, within each of our respective mediums I'd like to display a theme of some sort. I don't care what you do, I want a wide range of mediums centered around one theme. If you draw..draw. If you're a photographer...photograph. A Poet..write.
So
this week's theme is: Lantern.Within your medium, create something that represents or is linked to the theme of lantern. Be creative.
Link back to me when you finish. Ends next Tuesday (February 17th, American Pacific 12AM).
The Winner (of my choosing)
will receive a 1-month subscription to DA. All works will be featured on the next journal!
---My Journal---The tracing policy issued by DA is indeed disturbing. To be neutral I should post both positive journal entries and negative journal entries about this issue so you can make your own decision but I firmly believe that if you are a professional artist with contracts to clients giving them sole proprietorship of your work - they shouldn't be in a community that encourages tracing of any parts of it.
My reasoning being, some logos etc are so well known that even
that piece is copy written and despite DA's policies on it, you can be sued by that company for taking their trademarks. It's not only unethical but perhaps dangerous as well.
Some angry deviants:
On a lighter note,
watching
Hell's Kitchen is pretty much watching failure in action. Not the show quality, just people..fucking up...constantly. It reminds me of my job at the movie theater when films used to just snap off the reel for no reason what so ever.
Kings of Leon are magnificent. I urge you to download them.
I have a severe lack of Fantasy novels I can read in China that are in English. I can't read Chinese and so I've resorted to either downloading them or buying them from the internet which is super expensive. Ah well.
I bought some cappuccino from the coffee shop on campus, but I bought a whole foot long bag of it. So delicious.
New foreigners are coming to my school finally and that means I won't be bored for a while. Different cultures=interesting.
Look what it fucking shows when I take a photograph:
